I fell in love with Wichita, Kansas when I was hosted for a visit last summer, and I'm convinced it's one of the best-kept secrets of the Midwest. You'd think word would have gotten out because Wichitans love their city like nothing else, and they're not shy about it! You'll see Wichita flags and icons on clothing, buildings, menus... everywhere.
Things to Do in Wichita Kansas - The Old West
January 16, 2018
It's not very often that a city takes me completely by surprise, but Wichita surprised the heck out of me in a really good way. There's no doubt it's a thoroughly cosmopolitan city with a thriving arts, culture and foodie scene, but first I wanted to explore the things to do in Wichita, KS that would give me a taste of the Old West, and I absolutely loved all of it.

November 24, 2017
I discovered these 12 very merry reasons to visit Janesville, Wisconsin during the holiday season when I visited as a hosted guest. Thank you, Janesville! When I heard that the holidays in Janesville, Wisconsin were especially merry, I knew it was the place for me. So 'twas the week before Christmas nearly a year ago when I drove up north to a Wisconsin snowy winter wonderland and sub-zero temperatures. I was delighted about the snow... the arctic air, not so much.

September 5, 2017
I thought the novelty of ziplining had worn off on me until I went to The Gorge Zipline in Saluda, NC. It's the fastest and steepest zipline in the United States, and on a recent Hendersonville media tour I experienced exactly how thrilling it was!

Tips for Attending a NASCAR Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway
July 12, 2017
I decided to go to a NASCAR race for the first time after taking the "Feel the Thrill" tour at Charlotte Motor Speedway when visiting Cabarrus County, NC a couple of years ago. We were moving at about 60 mph in a van for the 24-degree banking and the force was intense! It was at that moment that I truly appreciated the sport, and I knew I had to experience an actual race, something I had never thought twice about doing before.

L'Auberge Casino Resort - The Epitome of Southern Comfort
April 25, 2017
I was lucky enough to celebrate Mardi Gras in Lake Charles, Louisiana this year as part of a media trip, and we stayed at what has to be one of the best hotels in Lake Charles - L'Auberge Casino Resort. It has everything one could possibly want and more.
Lucchese Boot Factory Tour - El Paso, TX
April 17, 2017
I'd always heard Lucchese made some of the very best cowboy boots, but when I took a Lucchese factory tour and saw the boot making process from start to finish, it became very clear why their boots are held in such high esteem.
Franklin Mountains State Park - Exploring the Chihuahuan Desert
April 10, 2017
Franklin Mountains State Park is such a treasure for the El Paso area. It's right on the city's edge, so it's mere minutes from everything, but you feel like you are out in the wilderness - a total escape. With over 100 miles of trails, it's a popular destination for mountain biking, hiking and even running, and the park itself runs from downtown El Paso to the New Mexico state line with four entrances, so there's plenty to explore.
El Paso Mission Trail - A 9-Mile Reason to Visit The Sun City
April 4, 2017
El Paso, Texas is often considered a drive-through city on the way to someplace else, and it must be because people aren't really aware of its special treasures. Well, I aim to enlighten them, and one of the best reasons to stop and spend some time in El Paso is the El Paso Mission Trail.
Milton House Museum - Wisconsin's Hexagonal Stagecoach Inn and Underground Railroad Station
April 3, 2017
The Milton House Museum is home to Milton House, a hexagonal-shaped stagecoach inn built in 1844. The inn served as a stop on the Underground Railroad to Freedom, and visitors can walk the same steps taken by freedom seekers in an actual underground tunnel.
Visiting the Creole Nature Trail? Start at Adventure Point
March 22, 2017
Southwest Louisiana is home to a number of diverse natural environments, and one of the best ways to explore them is via the Creole Nature Trail. Designated as an All-American Road, the 180-mile Creole Nature Trail takes visitors through piney woods, prairies, marshes, swamps and Gulf of Mexico beaches. All along the way are places to stop and explore, hike, observe wildlife and take photographs.
Southwest Louisiana Boudin - There's a Trail For That!
March 7, 2017
I just tried Southwest Louisiana boudin for the very first time and loved it! If you know me, your mind is blown right now, because I'm super picky with food (like an annoying child), but I really did like boudin! Boudin (pronounced boo-dan), a Louisiana delicacy, is essentially a mixture of pork, rice and seasonings put through a meat grinder, then stuffed into a sausage casing and cooked.
Ironworks Hotel Beloit, WI - Rustic Industrial Meets Modern Luxury
March 3, 2017
The Ironworks Hotel in Beloit, WI is one of the coolest luxury boutique hotels I've ever stayed at, and not because the temperature was 4 below when I visited. Although it was. I loved the hotel so much that I would have been perfectly happy never leaving the room. I did, of course, because there's lots to see in Beloit, but I'm tellin' ya... it hurt me every time I walked out the door.

February 8, 2017
If you've never been to Galveston, you're missing out! There are so many things to do in Galveston, TX! I visited the island last summer for a couple of days, and had the chance to experience a bit of what makes it so special.
Galveston Hotels Worth Checking Out and Checking In
January 24, 2017
Where you choose to stay when traveling has the potential to greatly enhance a vacation or put a pall over it, and I think it's one of the most important things to consider when making travel plans. I've stayed in many perfectly pleasant hotels, but when I'm traveling and come across exceptional properties like these two Galveston hotels, they deserve to be called out with their own post.

Old Time Charm Awaits You in Historic Downtown Grapevine Texas
September 19, 2016
The moment you catch sight of historic downtown Grapevine, TX you get caught up in the old-timey flavor and charm. It's a one-of-a-kind, friendly and walkable little town, and the heart of it all lies on Main Street. Although I only had about a half day to spend there, I managed to see quite a bit, so here are some fun ideas on what to see, do and eat there if you only have a few hours like I did.
Visiting Bloomington Indiana - What To Do!
August 31, 2015
An Indiana University visit many, many years ago brought me to Bloomington Indiana but I never left the campus, so it was fun to explore the city itself recently. Bloomington is home to a vibrant college community, but still retains small town charm, and the thriving art, cultural and foodie scene make it a destination well worth visiting.
